Religion and Culture

A scholar has said, ‘Every religion begins as an ideology but after sometime it degenerates into a culture.’ In the beginning, every religion inspires its followers with a living faith or spirit, but generation after generation this inner spirit declines until a time comes when the spirit entirely ceases to exist and only a form remains. Culture is nothing but a spiritless form. Present-day Muslims are following a culture in the name of Islam. This state of degeneration is thus mentioned in a hadith, ‘A time will come when mosques will be full of people but devoid of guidance.’
