Misinterpretation of the Quran

Misinterpretation of the Quran

The Quran says, ‘Speak the truth.’ This has wrongly been interpreted by some as ‘Establish the true system in society.’ Now, if you try to establish a system, naturally that would require unseating someone who already possesses political power. Fighting and dethroning the occupier of the political seat would thus ensue. The above kind of interpretation of Quranic verses is a grave crime. The  Quran says, ‘Follow justice’. This has been wrongly translated as ‘Establish the system of justice in society.’ If you follow the principle of justice in your individual life, there will be no fighting. But if you try to force people to follow justice, that would lead to conflict. These verses of the Quran are meant to be followed in one’s own life and not implemented or enforced on others. This is an example of misinterpretation of the Quran.
