Good Deeds

Good Deeds

The Quran says that there are some who do good works but their efforts go in vain. This holds true for those whose fasts lack the inner spirit of fasting. There is no reward for one who observes only the form of fasting and remains unmindful of its spirit. The form is beneficial only if it is performed along with being conscious of the spirit. The spirit of fasting covers one’s entire life. The month of Ramadan is meant as moral training for the entire year. In the Hereafter, no one will have a chance to return to the life of the world to perform good deeds. One has to be very serious about one’s present life so that there is no regret over lost opportunity when one dies and stands before God for judgment.
